The project aims at giving a solution to a combination of environmental sustainability problems: such as water, air and ground pollution, CO2 emissions, waste management, climate change, etc.
The customers are:
a) environmentally conscious people who want to have their contribution to solving global environmental issues
b) people who are unaware of such issues and pay for the services the project thus becoming more conscious on environmental problems and solutions.
The campground will gradually become fully self-sufficient: solar panels for electricity, solar water heater, composting eco-toilets (the waste will be composted together with other organic waste), waste (if any) will be separated and sent to recycling companies in the capital city.
Organic farming in the campground will provide safe vegetables and fruits for the camp's needs. Other fresh produce will be provided directly by the villagers.
The desired impact will be achieved gradually, but the vision of the camp is having zero waste and zero emissions. This is a revolutionary project which has the potential of becoming the most environmentally-friendly business that provides a full scale of services without emissions.
Advanced technologies of human excretory waste management like decomposition mechanized toilet system will be introduced. The composting toilet system doesn't consume water and doesn't need to be flushed, but instead uses a predominant aerobic process to treat human excreta by composting or managed aerobic decomposition. It saves a lot of water (10-15 liters of water is needed for each flush) and helps in keeping the environment clean.
I have been actively camping for several years and have extensive wild camping experience in Armenia, Georgia, Iran and the USA. I am a nature loving person enjoying being outdoors every weekend, hiking, camping in the nature. What I have noticed is no matter how hard I try to produce less waste and be a sustainable camper, many things depend on the campsite structure and amenities and most of the time it's impossible to avoid waste, use of endangered natural resources and emissions.
The idea of the project emerged from the personal need of such possibilities and I realized the world needs it too. Apart from the direct beneficiaries, all the others across the world need this prototype and the innovative idea of a self-sufficient lodging business (campground, hotel or any other product or service).
I will be glad to take the first step toward the creation of a successful prototype of a zero-waste, zero-emission and self-sustainable campground.
